Empowering Educators. Transforming Organizations.
Core Values

Care
We honor and uplift the strengths, needs, and agency of those we serve (the care-ee) by actively listening and building authentic relationships rooted in trust and respect. We are committed to sharing power and decision-making, ensuring every voice is valued. Through genuine partnership and co-creation, we foster fair, compassionate solutions that empower individuals and communities to thrive.

Community
We intentionally cultivate and empower communities where every voice is heard, valued, and respected. By fostering trust, collaboration, and shared purpose, we create and sustain safe, supportive spaces where individuals can connect, contribute, and grow together. Our commitment to community means actively dismantling barriers and co-creating environments where everyone feels safe, seen, and empowered to make a positive impact for the greater good.

Curiosity
We embrace curiosity as a catalyst for growth, innovation, and lifelong learning. We encourage questioning, exploration, and open-mindedness, believing that every challenge and perspective offers an opportunity to learn and improve. By fostering a culture where curiosity is valued and nurtured, we empower individuals and communities to adapt, discover new possibilities, and continuously improve and evolve together.

Healing
We believe healing is a collective journey rooted in partnership, trust, and shared wisdom. Guided by the principle “nothing about us without us,” we engage all voices in collaborative problem-solving and co-creation of solutions that honor lived experience. Our approach fosters environments where individuals and communities can heal, thrive, and flourish—nurturing hope, restoring wholeness, and empowering everyone to shape their wellbeing path.

Healthy Relationships
We believe healthy relationships are the foundation of thriving learning communities. We cultivate trust, respect, and open communication, valuing each individual’s voice and perspective. By practicing empathy, active listening, and authentic care, we create environments where every person feels safe, supported, and empowered to grow.

Human-centered
We honor the dignity, uniqueness, and potential of every individual by placing human needs, experiences, and relationships at the heart of everything we do. We listen with empathy, foster authentic connections, and create environments where each person feels seen, valued, and supported to flourish. Our commitment to human-centered practice guides us to design solutions, policies, and learning experiences that nurture holistic growth, integrity, and wellbeing for all.

Humility
We approach every interaction and challenge with openness, self-awareness, and a genuine appreciation for the assets and perspectives of others. We recognize our own limitations and remain eager to learn, valuing feedback as an opportunity for growth. By celebrating collective achievements over individual accolades and listening deeply, we foster an environment of respect, empathy, and continuous improvement. Humility grounds us, reminding us that we are always part of something greater than ourselves.

Response-ability
We recognize that true responsibility begins with the ability to listen and respond thoughtfully and compassionately. We champion the cultivation of emotional intelligence in ourselves and others, believing every person deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with emotionally attuned peers. By nurturing self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, we are empowered to problem solve and make responsible decisions. Embracing response-ability as both a value and a responsibility, we commit to fostering environments where mindful, skillful responses drive positive change.

Welcome to Wellbeing4Learning—where educator wellbeing is at the heart of our mission.
Educator wellbeing goes far beyond surface-level self-care or isolated wellness activities. It is a dynamic state shaped by the interplay of individual, relational, environmental, and policy factors, encompassing the psychological, social, and physical resources educators need to navigate the complexities of their work (Yoder, Hollingsworth, & Krohn, 2024).
Research demonstrates that educator wellbeing is directly linked to both student achievement and student wellbeing (Proeschold-Bell et al., 2021). Strong relationships and a sense of social support are the most significant drivers of workplace wellbeing and job satisfaction (Taylor et al., 2024).
"Teachers have strong wellbeing when they:
When educators are well, they are more responsive, resilient, and able to build strong relationships with students—fostering better academic and social outcomes.
Educator wellbeing is a shared responsibility. It requires not only individual commitment but also leadership and systemic support through thoughtful policies, healthy workplace cultures, and practices that value and sustain those at the core of our schools (Taylor et al., 2024; Yoder, Hollingsworth, & Krohn, 2024)
Prioritizing wellbeing creates environments where educators can thrive, innovate, and remain committed to their profession and our students.
By prioritizing educator wellbeing, we create environments where educators—and, in turn, students—can thrive, innovate, and remain engaged in their learning communities.

School Psychology Trainer, Appalachian State University
Past-President, North Carolina School Psychology Association (NCSPA)
NCSPA Legislative & Public Policy Committee (LPP)
I first met Dr. Beth Rice, Founder of Wellbeing4Learning, in 2001, when she entered the Appalachian State University School Psychology program, building on her foundational experience as an Exceptional Children’s Teacher. Even in those early days, it was clear she was a “rockstar”—demonstrating exceptional dedication, keen insight, and an unwavering passion for promoting wellbeing, particularly for children, families, and educators, while leading innovative wellbeing initiatives.
For nearly 25 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Rice—both as a student and as a fellow professional—committed to advancing wellbeing in educational settings, including through our leadership and collaboration on the North Carolina School Psychology Association (NCSPA) Board. Dr. Rice consistently led with compassion and clarity, inspiring colleagues and making a measurable difference in every project or initiative she touched.
Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Rice has exemplified talent, innovation, and integrity, continually making a positive impact on the lives of those she serves. Her ability to listen deeply, advocate with conviction, and implement evidence-based solutions has earned her the trust and admiration of peers across the state.
In an era when the need for educational wellbeing has never been more urgent—and as teachers, principals, support staff, and superintendents face unprecedented pressures that contribute to burnout and attrition—Wellbeing4Learning stands as a beacon of hope and support for our schools and communities.
I wholeheartedly believe in the mission, vision, and core values of Wellbeing4Learning. I am excited to witness the enduring positive impact that Dr. Rice’s leadership and this organization will have on educators and student outcomes for years to come. Wellbeing4Learning is uniquely positioned to transform the educational landscape, addressing today’s challenges while building resilience and hope for tomorrow. It is rare to encounter a leader who embodies both professional expertise and the depth of care that Dr. Rice brings to her work.
